Quotes, hourly rate, cost price: the sums that make a job profitable.
Start from the cost price: materials (offcuts included) + planned hours × all-in hourly rate + site costs. Then apply your margin: selling price excl. VAT = cost price × (1 + margin %). Example: 53,30 € cost per m² with a 35% margin = 71,95 € excl. VAT per m². That's exactly the calculation the app runs for every service.
Add up your annual overheads (loaded wages, vehicle, ten-year structural (décennale) and public-liability insurance, tooling, premises) and divide by your genuinely billable hours — count 1 300 to 1 500 h a year per worker, not 1 800. Example: 48 000 € of overheads ÷ 1 400 h ≈ 34 €/h in cost. Bill below that and you lose money on every hour sold.
In practice, many tradespeople aim for a 20–35% margin on the cost price, plus a 10–30% mark-up on the materials they supply. The right figure depends on your trade and your order book: what matters is deciding it deliberately, then checking the margin actually earned at the end of the job.
Cost price = materials used + loaded labour + equipment and consumables + travel + a share of your fixed costs. The classic trap is forgetting non-productive time: measuring up, quoting, callbacks, travel. The app structures this calculation service by service so nothing slips through.
